1260 SEK Excess Luggage
Wikipedia says a soldier of the Roman army carried up to 30 kg with him. I tell you that an exchange student leaving Uppsala carried roughly 60 kgs of junk luggage back home. One laptop bag, weighing roughly 10 kg, one backpack with 10 kg and two suitcases with 19 kg each.
This false estimation with respect to the weight of my luggage led to an unfavourable surprise at the check-in point at the airport. When I put my suitcases on this scale, it read "38" and I wondered whether the display would show pounds or some other unit. In fact I had 18 kg too much, which translated into an additional fee of 1260 SEK (roughly 131 Euros), more than the flight itself.

I was happy to get rid of this luggage at the check-in point, though, because one kilogram more and I couldn't have moved my stuff alone. The flight itself went along smoothly although it was windy (wind speed up to 30 knots in gusts) both in Stockholm and Cologne.
Now I am back at home, quite a few Germans here, and my first action was to watch "The Da Vinci Code" in English (without any subtitles) at a movie theatre in Bonn. It was a really good movie, absolutely worth seeing.
Now I hope that I also arrive mentally here, because today I wanted to say "tack" (one of the three Swedish words I know) in a supermarket when I got the money back.
